Donate your camera to the project! :)

Hi guys!

The new semester is coming and we are currently searching for new second-hand cameras to give to the kids! If you have any old functioning digital camera that has been sitting in the cupboard of yours for agesssss now, you might want to think about donating it to the project! The best part is, it is all for a good cause!

We are starting to collect cameras from now until mid/late August! Spread this news to your friends and family, it would be such a great help :)

For more information on what else you can donate, please click here!

Mr. Colin’s See-You-Later Party!

It’s Mr. Colin’s last semester in Taylor’s College and last time being with Everyone Has Hope team before moving back to Canada to start a whole new chapter in his life.

To say thank you for all that he has done for the project and especially for the project members, the students of the ACR school decided to throw him a going-away party (we like to think of it as a see-you-later party instead though!) in their school.

Although it wouldn’t be the last time we would see him, as he reassured us that he would come visit (Soon we hope! Fingers crossed!!), it was a really nice get-together with the team just having a nice meal and enjoying each others’ company.

On top of that, Mr. Colin received some pretty awesome gifts from the ACR students too!

Receiving a plaque from the president of ACR.

Card and photo frame by the EHH members, handed by Rachel who was all giggly.

Joshua ‘hanging’ a traditional Burmese bag on Mr. Colin’s neck.

Foooooooooooooood!

Kar Yee can’t wait to dig in!

Candid shot! Amos (far left) from the previous batch of students also joined us! It was soooo good to see him again!

Not sure why Rachel’s face is like that, but Molly seems to be enjoying herself.

Jasmine… She likes purple and yummy food.

FAVOURITE PICTURE EVER! Hilarious!

The ladies of the project!

The macho men!

Group picture :)

Thank you Mr. Colin! WE LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU! See you later! ;)

Fun in Sunway Lagoon!

On May 26th, we brought the kids to have some outdoor adventure in Sunway Lagoon theme park! Everyone had a blast swimming about and going on rides. It was the kids’ first time there and it was definitely a memorable one since it was our last time being with them before the semester ends.

What a way to end a great semester with the kids! Can’t wait until school re-opens and we get to work with a new batch of students and having the current batch to help us teach the new batch.

Everyone Has Hope at the Hear Us Out 8 Global Issues Conference

We were incredibly lucky and honoured to be a part of the recent Hear Us Out 8 Global Issues Conference that happened on May 19th! It was such an awesome experience to be there and sharing about our project to students, teachers and various NGO representatives who were present that day.

It’s currently in it’s 8th cycle under the guidance of our awesome World Issues teacher, Mr. Colin Boyd Shafer. The core missions of the Hear Us Out Conference are as follows :

Closing Night (27th April 2012)

The closing night was bittersweet. It was hard to end yet another successful exhibition but we have no choice! What a great experience to be given the opportunity to host the exhibition in Cube Gallery!

Thank you so much Mr. Asghar for having us!

We never had a closing night before in our previous two exhibitions, but since we had gotten so much support, we thought that it would be a great opportunity to do a closing ceremony with special guest speakers as well as introducing #Recognizethem; a video documentary relating to refugee issues in Malaysia.

Our guest speakers; Katrina, Asha and Vivian.

Asha and Vivian talking about a campaign to end immigration detention of children. Visit their Facebook page here.

Katrina talking about Tenaganita’s work. Visit their Facebook page here.

Mr. Colin introducing #Recognizethem.

After the crowd left, it was time for us to take the photos and poster down. Super sad!

Empty walls…

The group chilling after an exhausting night.

Thank you for coming to our gallery and for buying the photos, postcards and buttons!

From the sales, we managed to raise RM4400!!!!! What a number! Half of the money raised will go to the refugee school and the other half will go to the Everyone Has Hope project for the continuation of the project!

Thank you so much again! Keep on supporting our project!!!
