Masjid Jamek Field Trip

Though they probably have seen much of the city already, the kids never seem to tire of Kuala Lumpur! This time we took them to the famous Masjid Jamek, easily accessible via LRT, which we took.

However, upon arrival, our ever-adventurous Mr. Layng made a pre-planned detour into a ‘secret-but-not-so-secret’ pathway along the Klang River. Lining the walls on either side of the river were stunning, jaw-dropping graffiti pieces which, though technically illegal, showcased a more artistic side of Malaysians.

A lovely location for some street football, if not for the river.

Overall it was a really fun and interesting experience for both the kids and the EHH members. Not only did we get to marvel at magnificent pieces of art, we also got to see the kids in a less constricted environment than they are probably used to, which was quite refreshing. However, we reckon this will be nothing compared to the ‘Big One’, the upcoming final field trip for the semester (still in planning). It’s gonna be wild! Stay tuned!

The Planetarium Trip!

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to a field trip! Again!

This time we took them to the planetarium. The kids had so much fun in the planetarium. Looking at the planets and the outer space.

Over the past four weeks we have engaged in a host of fun activities.

In early March we all went to the Jungle lodge for some outdoor activities.

It was a splashing good time!

We even had floaters for those who couldn’t swim well :)

The next week we took the Taylor’s choir club to visit the school and teach the kids some songs.

At first some were a little nervous….

But quickly, they learned some great songs and fun was had by all!

In April, Anel Barovia led some fun games with the kids, as the project reviewed their awesome photography.

They learned ‘Wink Murder’ and ‘Mafia’…. I think ‘Mafia’ was their favorite.

Next the kids improved their photography skills by learning about perspective :)

They caught on pretty quick!

Can’t wait to see what they come up with…….

Valentines Day!

On the 9th of February, which is the Saturday before Valentines Day, we did an activity with the kids with valentines day as the theme.

The activity was making valentine cards!

The kids show off their creativity and succeed to make beautiful valentine cards.

They are very sweet! :) Happy Valentines Day!

A Trip To The KL Bird Park!

Last Saturday, we took the kids to a trip to the KL Bird Park!

The place is filled with different species of birds! There are also places with beautiful scenery!

It is the perfect place for the kids to practice their photography skills taking pictures of different kinds of birds!

Yep! We all had a lot of fun in the park! :)

Trip to Batu Caves

On the 28th of October, Mr. Fab took the kids to Batu Caves to take pictures and have fun going up the stairs and seeing the limestone caves.

Upon arrival, the kids were greeted by a lot of monkeys :D

The kids had so much fun! :D

Faisal Cup Tournament

Last Saturday, September 29, the kids took part in the finals of the Faisal Cup Tournament for the net ball game and soccer game.

Unfortunately, the U-16 soccer team and the U-14 net ball team lost by one point.

However, victory came from the U-14 soccer team! Woohoo!

We are the champions - my friends.. And we’ll keep on fighting till the end.. We are the champions.. We are the champions..

Despite the extreme hot weather on that day, everyone seemed to be having fun and celebrating the victory.. :D

The event ended with a marching activity.

Hi guys!

The new semester is coming and we are currently searching for new second-hand cameras to give to the kids! If you have any old functioning digital camera that has been sitting in the cupboard of yours for agesssss now, you might want to think about donating it to the project! The best part is, it is all for a good cause!

We are starting to collect cameras from now until mid/late August! Spread this news to your friends and family, it would be such a great help :)

Yet another successful semester!

Another successful semester over! We’re taking a short rest now from the project during the semester break. When school re-opens, we’ll work with a new batch of students for yet another exciting adventure!! Thank you so much for all your support!

Oh! If you have any unused (but functioning of course!) digital camera or books/magazines on photography, feel free to donate them to the project! We’re currently searching for cameras (especially) for the next batch of students. Let us know!! :)

Mr. Colin's See-You-Later Party!

It’s Mr. Colin’s last semester in Taylor’s College and last time being with Everyone Has Hope team before moving back to Canada to start a whole new chapter in his life.

To say thank you for all that he has done for the project and especially for the project members, the students of the ACR school decided to throw him a going-away party (we like to think of it as a see-you-later party instead though!) in their school.

Although it wouldn’t be the last time we would see him, as he reassured us that he would come visit (Soon we hope! Fingers crossed!!), it was a really nice get-together with the team just having a nice meal and enjoying each others’ company.

On top of that, Mr. Colin received some pretty awesome gifts from the ACR students too!

Fun in Sunway Lagoon!

On May 26th, we brought the kids to have some outdoor adventure in Sunway Lagoon theme park! Everyone had a blast swimming about and going on rides. It was the kids’ first time there and it was definitely a memorable one since it was our last time being with them before the semester ends.

What a way to end a great semester with the kids! Can’t wait until school re-opens and we get to work with a new batch of students and having the current batch to help us teach the new batch.

Everyone Has Hope at the Hear Us Out 8 Global Issues Conference

We were incredibly lucky and honoured to be a part of the recent Hear Us Out 8 Global Issues Conference that happened on May 19th! It was such an awesome experience to be there and sharing about our project to students, teachers and various NGO representatives who were present that day.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Hear Us Out conference is a global-issues themed conference organized by the Canadian & World Issues classes of the Canadian Pre-University (CPU) in Taylor’s College Subang Jaya. It’s currently in it’s 8th cycle under the guidance of our awesome World Issues teacher, Mr. Colin Boyd Shafer.The core missions of the Hear Us Out Conference are as follows :

To connect the students within the local community and vice versa.
Raising awareness about the global issues and the solutions that can be taken.
Raising funds for the local NGO’s within Malaysia.
